Director of Bands
Mr.
Chris Yoo is in his second year as Director of Bands at Murray High
School in Murray, Kentucky. Previous to his position at Murray, Mr.
Yoo served one year as Assistant Director for the Mexia High School
Band in Mexia,TX. Mr. Yoo has also held positions of instruction with
the LaRue County High School Band in Hodgenville, KY; the Owensboro
High School Band in Owensboro, KY; the Marshall County High School Band
in Draffenville, KY; and the Murray High School Band in Murray, KY where
he served as the Woodwind Technician from 2002-2005.
A
Murray High alumnus, Mr. Yoo is a 2005 graduate of Murray State University
in Murray, KY where he obtained a Bachelor of Music Education degree
with an Instrumental Major. While at Murray State University, Mr. Yoo
was part of the Murray State Racer Band, Jazz Band II, Orchestra, Symphonic
Band, Wind Ensemble, and Clarinet Choir. He also was part of the KMEA
Inter-Collegiate Band from 2001-2003 and the WASBE International Youth
Orchestra in Sweden. During his time at Murray State , Mr. Yoo also
was a three-year Assistant Conductor for the Wind Ensemble and a two-year
Assistant Conductor with the Symphonic Band. Mr. Yoo also has arranged
music for ensembles such as the Murray State University Clarinet Choir,
the Murray Middle Saxophone Quartet, the Murray State University Brass
Quintet, and the Marshall County Indoor Drumline.
Mr. Yoo has been a part of many organizations such as the Collegiate Music
Educators’ National Conference, the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, the
Association of Texas Small School Bands, the Texas Bandmasters Association,
and the Texas Music Educators Association. He has also held leadership
positions as President of Phi Mu Alpha, Gamma Delta Chapter at Murray
State University; and as Chairman and Musical Director for Campus Lights,
a student produced musical organization at Murray State University. In
2005, Mr. Yoo was honored as the Most Outstanding Senior Male in Music
at Murray State University.

Beth
Stribling, a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is currently in her
25th year of teaching with the last 20 at Murray Middle School in Murray,
Kentucky. Under her direction, the band program at Murray Middle has
received recognition for its musical excellence in the areas of concert,
jazz and small ensemble performances. Her concert bands have consistently
received distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Festivals. During her
tenure at Murray Middle, Ms. Stribling has been able to establish a
middle school instrumental clinic and an annual jazz festival that offer
outstanding performance and educational opportunities to middle school
students throughout the area. She is active as an adjudicator and guest
conductor in both Kentucky and Tennessee.
Ms.
Stribling received her BME from Middle Tennessee State University and
an MME and Rank I from Murray State University. She has recently concluded
her second term as the State Elementary/Middle School Chair for the
Kentucky Music Educators Association this summer and has served as the
secretary/treasurer for 1st District MEA. She has been honored by being
selected as the Outstanding Middle School Music Educator for 1st District
and nominated for the state level of the same office by both 1 st and
3 rd districts. Ms. Stribling is also a member of MENC, Phi Beta Mu,
Phi Delta Kappa, KEA and Delta Omicron.

Jason
R. Shelby began his career with the Tiger Band as a lowly trombone player
in the fall of 1992, and has been passionately involved ever since. He
is currently in his tenth year of instructing the band, and his fourth
year of serving as the visual designer. Mr. Shelby has had a wide variety
of experiences in the world of marching music, including marching for
three years with the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. He served as visual
instructor for two seasons with the Bandettes Drum and Bugle Corps,
and was both instructor and designer for the 2001 World Champion Eklipse
Percussion Ensemble. In 2003 he served as director of the Eklipse Drum
and Bugle Corps in their inaugural season. He has written drill for
several local bands and judged regionally.
Mr.
Shelby received his BA in History from Murray State University and
is currently pursuing his Masters. Since 2002 he has taught World
Civilization and European History at Murray High. He lives in Murray
with his wife, Ellis, and their cat and dog.
In
addition to his duties with the marching band, Josh also teaches the
percussion ensemble, assists at Murray Middle School, and teaches
private lessons.
